Title: Grant Writer Specialist
Reports To: CEO

Location: WIN Resilience Resource Center (Chicago, IL)



The Position: The Grant Writer Specialist will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for our programs. This role is critical in helping us achieve our mission and expand our reach.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Research and identify federal and state grant opportunities aligned with WIN Recovery’s mission, programs, and strategic goals 

  • Write compelling and comprehensive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, tailored to the specific requirements of each funder. 

  • Work with finance and program teams to ensure accurate budget creation, expenditure tracking, and reporting for awarded grants. 

  • Meet regularly with colleagues to discuss current and new funding needs. 

  • Ensure that all grant proposals comply with grant guidelines and eligibility requirements 

  • Develop a comprehensive grants calendar, tracking all deadlines and deliverables 

  • Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal. 

  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all grant submissions, awards, and reports

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two years experience in development or grant administration for nonprofit, public agency, municipal  organization, or equivalent experience 

  • Proficiency with grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong understanding of grant writing processes, including research, proposal development, and budgeting

  • Proven track record of successfully securing funding from foundations, corporations, or government agencies

  • Strong research skills to identify potential funding opportunities. 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all written materials and budget documents.
